Well that’s annoying.

We went hunting to figure out what was causing this error and found out that according to WordPress, this error is often caused by an ‘overly protective’ web server setup.

Now because we don’t have access to your web server, the quickest way to sort this error out, is to contact the company that hosts your blog and have them do the following:

Edit the .htaccess and add the following lines…

<Files xmlrpc.php>
SecFilterInheritance Off
</Files>

This should do the trick. Try hooking up your blog again and if you still get this message, drop us a line and we’ll get things sorted.

To de-activate BlogStomp from a computer, launch the app and select File>Deactivate (PC) or BlogStomp>Deactivate (Mac).

Mac Users: BlogStomp>Forgot Code

PC Users: File>Forgot Code

Enter the email address you registered BlogStomp with, and hit ‘Send me my Codes’.

BlogStomp will dig it out of our system, and send it automatically to your email address. Insto!

If you’re having trouble activating your app, and you’re not quite sure why it isn’t accepting your code, use this little gem to make sure you’re not using your V1 code to activate V2 of the app.

That’ll deactivate BlogStomp from your system and free up that install so you can reinstall BlogStomp on your new machine, and not lose one of your two (or five) installs. Easy ha.

Branding your images is one of the most important steps you can take when sharing your images online.  It is a BIG part of your advertising.  It serves the dual role of also helping to protect you against copyright infringement.  It’s a big deal to you, and it’s a big deal to us.  That’s why we made it so easy to Stomp your images with a logo or watermark in BlogStomp.

A logo can be added in the “Styles” menu – so here’s how to do it.

Open the app and click the “Settings” icon, then select the “Styles” tab. Within the “Styles” menu is an area where you can ‘Add’ or ‘Remove’ a logo.  Click the ‘Add’ button and navigate to where your logo is located on your computer and select it.  You should see your logo appear in the preview window, and you can move it around and place it where you like on the image (make sure you have an image selected in the main window).  Once it’s where you want it on the photo or frame, lock it in place using the tick boxes we provided.

Prepping your logo for use within BlogStomp requires a bit of attention, but it’s no daunting task.

Open your logo in Photoshop.  We recommend a PSD logo with a transparent Background layer.  Resize the logo to 72dpi, and set the height to somewhere around 72 pixels.  If your logo is going to be placed on top of the image itself (as opposed to on a white or colored frame around the image), you may wish to change the opacity of the logo so it blends better.  This may require a bit of trial and error to find the perfect opacity, but it will be worth it in the end.  Once you’ve got it the way you like it, select the Save for Web option, then choose PNG-24 at the top-right.  Make sure the “Convert to sRGB” box is ticked so you don’t see any colour weirdness when you Stomp your images.

Well that’s it!  Easy enough, right?

While the Styles menu may be the fun and sexy menu screen, the Output menu is truly the workhorse in this process.  Customize your file names for increased SEO visibility.  Set JPG quality to improve the look of your images and/or reduce page load time.  Make finely tuned sharpening adjustments to give your images just the right amount of “pop”.

“Help! I launched BlogStomp and imported images, but I don’t have a Mix It Up! button! What do I do?!”

You’re in luck, friend.  We’re here to help.  And this may be the easiest one of all.  All you have to do is select more than one image in Freestyle Mode, and the “Mix It Up” button will magically appear at the bottom-right of the App window.

Click through the different arrangement options and find the one you like best!

There are many things BlogStomp does well.  Perhaps the top two are its lightening-fast batch processing and it’s fully-customizable composite frame generator.

Batch Mode is a quick processing option. Import your images, apply whichever frame you want  on your images, and Stomp. BlogStomp will process and apply the frame and/or logo to the entire batch of images you had imported into the app.  In a flash.

Freestyle Mode gives you a few more options.  It includes the ability create multi-image apertures.  Load up a handful of photos — hell, even two or three handsful.  It arranges the images in a number of selectable layouts, and gives you the option to rearrange the photos in the frame with the touch of a button.  Freestyle Mode also allows you to move your logo to a unique place on each photo for a more fully-customized presentation. Freestyle mode only Stomps one-at-a-time the image or images you have selected, as opposed to the entire catalog as in Batch Mode.
